Dual Enrollment

CVA offers a variety of dual/hybrid options:

  • Dual (Open to all Ages)  means you have more than 51% of your classes at your home school and your academic progress is managed through your home school. 
  • Hybrid (Specific to High School) means you have 51% of your classes with CVA and your academic progress is managed through CVA. 
  • Learning Lab (Specific to High School) Means a student takes CVA classes in a CHS classroom with a teacher available questions.
  • CAL Charter: Some students apply and are accepted into the Center for Advanced Learning

 

Elementary Students (K-5): 

To inquire about Dual enrollment for your elementary student you can inquire directly with us 503-762-3214 or contact your local school counselor. 

  • Students can attend their neighborhood school for specials: Library, Music, or PE.
  • Students who are English language learners have the choice to attend their neighborhood school or to attend live virtual sessions with the CVA ELD teacher to receive ELD services. 
  • Students can attend community events at their neighborhood schools.
    •  This option does not require dual enrollment.

Middle School Students (Grades 6-8):

To inquire about Dual enrollment for your Middle School Student you can inquire directly with us 503-762-3214 or contact your local school counselor. 

  • This program requires the parent to do a minimum of daily check-ins and weekly monitoring. 
  • All lessons are taught through an online platform called Edgenuity. 
  • The core classes to chose from are Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science. We also offer a 5th class each trimester that is either Health or an elective. 
  • You can connect with the Advisory teacher via Zoom upon request
  • Students can attend CMS for Band and Choir (held on A and B days), only up to 7th period.  
  • Students who are English language learners have the choice to attend CMS (space is limited) or to attend live virtual sessions with the CVA ELD teacher to receive ELD services. 
  • Students can attend community events at CMS or OMS.
    •  This option does not require dual enrollment.
  • Students can participate in sports at CMS or OMS.
    • This option does not require dual enrollment.

 

High School (Grades 9-12):

To inquire about Dual or Learning Lab enrollment for your high school student you can contact your students academic counselor at the high school.  For Hybrid enrollment you can contact us at 503-762-3214.

  • All lessons are taught through an online platform called Edgenuity. This is a self paced program that works well for students that are self driven. 
    • Plan to work at least an hour per school day per class. 
    • Students can complete classes as fast as they want.
    • There are now online tutors available in addition to help from your teachers.
    • Students need to actively check their gmail (not in student vue)
  • Students can take initial credit courses at CVA when behind in credits.
  • 5th year seniors can complete courses at CVA.
  • Students can attend community events at CHS.
    •  This option does not require dual enrollment.
  • Students can participate in sports at CHS.
    • This option does not require dual enrollment.
  • For Hybrid Students only:
    • Students can attend CHS for specific courses that CVA doesn’t offer.
    • The advisory teacher will set up the initial orientation
    • You can connect with the Advisory teacher via Zoom upon request
