Helpful information about our program and how enrollment works:
To inquire about enrollment (Dual or Full time) from out of the district you can inquire directly with us at 503-762-3214 cva@csd28j.org or if your student is already in the Centennial District you can contact your school counselor or Learning Specialist if they are SPED.
How our program works:
- Students need a designated "learning coach." The role of this adult at home is to check for understanding, organize materials, set the pace for learning on a daily basis to help students complete work on time, and submit work to be graded by the CVA teacher. The learning coach should expect to commit to about 4-6 hours each day with your student.
-
- All Classes are taught through an online platform called Edgenuity.
- There is a workbook that will correspond to the online lessons that will be submitted for grading through Edgenuity.
- The Core Classes are Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science.
- You have the option to be dual enrolled:
- Students can attend their neighborhood school for specials: Library, Music, or PE.
- If you choose dual enrollment, please work closely with your home school to come up with the best schedule.
- Please note that dual enrollment can affect transportation opportunities. Please work with your home school if you have questions about transportation, in most cases there will be no transportation offered.
- You can connect with the Advisory teacher via Zoom every other week.
- Students who are English language learners attend live virtual sessions with the CVA ELD teacher to receive ELD services.
- If your student has an IEP:
- The Learning Specialist will send a welcome email and call to schedule services once the student is enrolled.
- After enrollment the Learning Specialist will work with the Advisory teacher to make sure accommodations and modifications are put in place. You will be contacted to schedule a meeting to discuss Abbreviated School Day Plan, which is a requirement for enrollment for students in Special Education K-8.
- Going forward the Learning Specialist will hold an annual IEP meeting.
