CVA Course Catalog 

Centennial Virtual Academy (CVA) is a program at Centennial High School. CVA students are Centennial High School students, and CVA is based in Room 195 on the high school campus.

CVA offers flexibility to complete coursework from home, while keeping students connected to teachers and the school community. Students and families should plan for regular daily work, live advisory, and required in-person testing.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Course load:  Students take 4 to 7 classes, depending on their grade level and enrollment plan.
  • Daily coursework:  Students are expected to spend  50 minutes per class per day working working on assignments.  Courses may use Edgenuity (Edge), Google Classroom, or another assigned platform.
  • Daily advisory:  Students attend live, synchronous advisory each school day at 9:15 a.m.  Advisory is an important time to connect with teachers, get information, and participate in the school community.
  • Attendance Check-In:  In addition to completing coursework, students must meet CVA’s daily attendance check-in expectations.  Students may meet the check-in requirement by attending advisory and completing the daily code word, checking in with a teacher, or completing the daily attendance form.
  • Camera expectations:  Cameras must be on, with students’ faces visible in the frame, during virtual meetings, including advisory and one-on-one meetings with teachers. 
  • Required campus dates:  Students must come to Centennial High School for required activities such as finals, state testing, and district testing.  Families will receive information about dates, times, and arrangements.
  • Communication and support:  Students should check their school email and assigned learning platforms regularly, ask teachers for help when they need it, and let their advisory teacher know if they are having trouble accessing coursework or attending meetings.
