Helpful information about our program and how enrollment works:

To inquire about  switching to CVA Full time or as a Dual enrolled student you can inquire with your local Middle School (6th-8th) Guidance Counselor or directly with us at 503-762-3214 cva@csd28j.org

Requirements:

  • All students will need to check out a Centennial School District Chromebook to do all school work. If you already have one checked out it will transfer to CVA automatically.  If you do not already have one you will be given instructions on where and when to check one out.
  • Students will need to actively check their gmail (not in student vue)
  • Students/Families will need to have reliable internet. If cost is an issue you can check out these low cost options.
  • Students will have to complete a daily attendance form in addition to online school work – see Attendance below for more information.
  • NOTICE to Parent or Guardians:

The learning platform:

  • All lessons are taught through an online platform called Edgenuity. Your Advisory Teacher will go into more detail about this platform in the Orientation.

Attendance:

  • Beginning in the 23/24 School year there is a state mandated 2 factor attendance policy for online schools. This means students are required to do 2 points of contact in order to be counted as present.
    • The first point of contact:  is to either attend the daily advisory meeting online or if a student cannot attend, they will need to answer a Google Form question(s) –which will be provided by the advisory teacher.

    • The second point of contact is working on their classes for a minimum of 1 hour per day.

General Information about our Program:

  • The core classes are Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science. We also offer a 5th class each trimester that is either Social Emotional Learning, Health, or an elective.
  • Every Thursday there is an Advisory Class required to attend.
    • Please note: District wide information is communicated during these meetings.
  • Your Advisory teacher will connect with students/family via Zoom for regular check in meetings.
  • Online Tutors are also available.
  • Students who are English language learners attend live virtual sessions with the CVA ELD teacher to receive ELD services.
  • SPED students have live virtual sessions with CVA’s Learning Specialist.
  • Students who are English language learners have the choice to attend CMS (space is limited) or to attend live virtual sessions with the CVA ELD teacher to receive ELD services.
  • Students have the option to be Dual Enrolled:
    • Both School’s Academic counselors and Advisory Teachers will work with you to come up with a schedule that makes sense.
    • Students can attend CMS for Band and Choir (held on A and B days), only up to 7th period.
    • If you decide to do Dual Enrollment – Bus transportation may not be available to you that fits your students schedule. Plan to do your own transportation.
